Basketball Program in Utah
The Killer Bees Basketball Club is a high-quality competitive basketball program that operates in the Salt Lake City area. The Killer Bees basketball program started in 2010 to give young players the opportunity to learn advanced basketball and gain a well-rounded basketball education, at a young age. This happens through providing age-appropriate instruction in individual skills, team basketball concepts, and fundamentals. There is a pre-developed curriculum that gives coaches the blueprint to enhance all areas of development for our players.
The objective of the Killer Bees Basketball Program is to provide a positive, encouraging, safe, fun, and educational environment for young players to receive high-quality instruction, learn basketball skills and concepts, learn life skills (such as hard work, commitment, accountability, communication), build meaningful relationships and learn to play competitive basketball in a healthful manner. Players will earn the value of roles and have the experience of being a part of something bigger than any one individual person, which is a team. They will learn the importance of teamwork, and how to be an elite teammate because being part of a team is an inevitable gift and necessity of life.
We invite all players that have a love for the game of basketball who want to develop further as a player and a person. We invest in our players by building personal relationships with them, coaching, them and giving them the tools they need to reach their highest potential. We want to build their basketball skills and their self-esteem so they can be comfortable and confident on and off the court. We have various teams for each age group and various skill levels suitable for all players to learn, grow, and have an impact!
- The Killer Bees offer programs that practice 1 to 2 times per week
- The practice is typically held in the Holladay, Murray, and/or Sandy area
- The teams enter into local competitive Super Leagues and AAU tournaments to gain game experience and compete.
- The head coach of the team is required to complete a practice plan for each practice, which helps the coaching plan most effectively and efficiently.
- Killer Bees’ coaches are held to a high standard and are required to attending regular meetings, training, and brainstorming sessions to further their skill set and knowledge as a coach, as well as to make the Killer Bees Basketball Program the best we can be!
- The team system is developed to be very progressive so that the boys that grow up in the program develop a great understanding of the system, the game of basketball, and its concepts, in a step-by-step learning fashion.
- There is time in each practice that is set for individual skill work
About the Basketball Director:
Johnny Saccomanno is a highly motivated, organized, and skilled instructor! He has a lot of experience and enthusiasm working with young people, mentoring, and teaching the game of basketball! Johnny graduated from the U of U, coached several AAU Boys and Girls Basketball teams, grades 2 through 9, and has taught private lessons since 2001.
He also worked on several national and local Basketball Camps including U of U, Judge Memorial Catholic High School, Georgia Tech University, Marquette University, and UCLA. Johnny worked as an Assistant Coach at Judge Memorial Catholic High School and Westminster College, as well as the Director of Basketball Operations at Weber State University. From 2007-2009, he was an Assistant Coach for The Utah Flash (NBA Development League).
During his career, he helped organize, run, and direct camps at Weber State University, Westminster College, and The Utah Flash. Johnny currently works at The Winner School as the Co-Director & Co-Owner, skilled supervisor, and teacher with kids, ages 2-15. He also started the Killer Bees Basketball Club in 2010, which has multiple teams of various age groups.
As a coach, Johnny teaches players basketball skills, life skills, team skills, builds confidence, and cultivates a love for the game!
Got game? Join Johnny Saccomanno’s SKILLS basketball camp. Develop fundamental ball handling, individual and team skills through focused instruction. Students will receive ample individual coaching. Basketball camp includes instruction, T-shirts, prizes, transportation, and a snack.
Camp I: Basic SKILLS Camp (K-2nd Grade) 9am-12pm – $180

The goal is to introduce basic skills in basketball. This camp will teach basic offensive and defensive skills, in a fun and exciting learning environment. Players will participate in fun exercises and games to learn individual and team skills. There will be many individual and team contests and games. Each player will receive ample individual instruction. Players will be split into age appropriate groups. Plus, they will have a blast!
Camp II: Fundamental SKILLS Camp (3rd-6th Grade) 9am-12pm – $180

The goal is to teach fundamental offensive and defensive skills in a fun and exciting learning environment, and to further develop a love for the game. Players will develop skills on an individual and team basis, and gain knowledge and confidence to be more effective in game situations. There will be many individual and team contests and games. Each player will receive ample individual instruction. Plus, it will be so much fun! **Be sure to check out the Shooting Clinic! Receive a $5 discount if registering for both!
Camp III: Offensive SKILLS Camp (7th-10th Grade) – $95
July 10th & 11th 12:15-3:15 Location: Grace Lutheran Church & School 1815 E 9800 S., Sandy, UT 84092
The goal is to teach advanced offensive basketball skills in a concentrated and dynamic learning environment. Players will learn shooting, ball-handling, passing skills and live-dribble moves. There will also be many individual contests and team competitions. Each player will receive ample individual instruction. *Shooting SKILLS Clinic – $135 Location: Grace Lutheran Church & School 1815 E 9800 S., Sandy, UT 84092
July 19th 4:00-7:00pm & July 20th 10:00am-2:30pm (Lunch served on Saturday)
The goal of this camp is to improve shooting skills by getting ample individual instruction in a focused environment. There will be in-depth coaching on basic shooting form, and more advanced game shots, such as, shooting off the catch, dribble, and screens. There will be many individual and group competitions. This camp will really get your shooting sharp while having a blast! If added in addition to camp II or III, receive a $5 discount!
